In April the Farm Hub collaborated with the Kingston YMCA Farm Project on an art exhibition on Language Justice
On April 3 “We Are Puentes (Somos Bridges),” an exhibition on Language Justice by the Youth Crew and Empowerment Coordinators of the Kingston YMCA Farm Project, launched at the Arts Society of Kingston in the City of Kingston.
The exhibit is an extension of a six-part Language Justice youth workshop led by Adriana Perrichi and Li Sierra of the Farm Hub’s Language Justice program.
In this series, some 14 youth who participated in the workshop created projects based on what language justice means to them. Through art, video, and multimedia they examined how language impacts daily life, how the power of language can liberate or oppress, and how each individual plays a role in creating change toward language justice in the community.
The art pieces showcased in “We Are Puentes” reflect what the youth crew learned and how they express and share their knowledge to help raise greater awareness.
The exhibition will run from April 3 until April 24 at the ASK Gallery at 97 Broadway, Kingston.

EN ABRIL FARM HUB COLABORÓ CON KINGSTON YMCA FARM PROJECT EN UNA EXPOSICIÓN DE ARTE SOBRE LA JUSTICIA DE LENGUAJE
El 3 de abril estrenó “We Are Puentes (Somos Bridges)”, una exposición sobre la justicia de lenguaje del grupo de jóvenes y los coordinadores de empoderamiento de Kingston YMCA Farm Project, en Arts Society of Kingston en la ciudad de Kingston.
La exhibición es una extensión de un taller juvenil de seis partes sobre la justicia de lenguaje dirigido por Adriana Pericchi y Li Sierra del Programa de Justicia de Lenguaje de Farm Hub.
En esta serie, unos 14 jóvenes que participaron en el taller crearon proyectos basados en lo que significa para ellos la justicia de lenguaje. A través de arte, video y multimedia analizaron cómo el lenguaje impacta la vida diaria, cómo el poder del lenguaje puede liberar u oprimir y cómo cada individuo juega un papel en la creación de cambios hacia la justicia de lenguaje en la comunidad.
