On-Farm Construction Update: Agricultural Storage Facilities

This month, the Farm Hub is pleased to be initiating construction of our agricultural tractor and equipment storage facilities.

This suite of three shed buildings represents a long planned improvement to our field operations environment.  Designed in tandem with the new shop and office building (completed in 2021), the project consists of a tractor shed, an equipment shed, and a fuel storage building with a wash bay.  Once completed, the farm team will be able to store tractors and heavy farm equipment out of the elements, out of view, and within close range of the fields.

The buildings will be situated on the eastern side of the shop and to the south of the greenhouses and long hedgerow.  They will look similar to the shop – with charcoal grey metal and reclaimed wood siding, and windows fitted with strike avoidance cording for bird conservation purposes.

Site preparation will take place in May with construction starting in late June, all under the stewardship of Mid-Hudson Construction Management.  Building activity will be contained within construction fencing and, as always, we will make every effort to minimize visual, noise and traffic impacts in the neighborhood.  Work will take place weekdays between 7:00am to 5:00pm and Saturdays until 3:00pm, with no activity on Sundays or holidays.

We’re looking forward to project completion and to moving equipment indoors and tractors undercover!  In the meantime, we thank all of you in the community for your ongoing interest in our work, and for your patience as we continue to build the infrastructure that supports healthy food production on the farm.
